Tom Holland on SiriusXM’s Pop Culture Spotlight, the Spider-Man: No Way Home star spoke with Jessica Shaw about his new film, Uncharted, and the gig he took on to prepare for his role in the action-packed film.
In Uncharted, Holland plays Nathan Drake, an adventure-seeking bartender who joins forces with Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to embark on a perilous quest to find the greatest treasure ever discovered, in the hopes of also finding Nate’s long-lost brother. Holland not only went to bartending school to prepare for the role, but he also worked a few shifts at a London bar.
“One of my favorite things about what we do for a living is when you get the chance to learn a new skill for a reason other than you just want to give it a shot,” Holland said. “So I enrolled in a bartending school. I ended up working a few shifts at a London bar, which was a lot of fun. It was extremely enjoyable for me. It’s also a nice little set piece in the film.”
It didn’t take long for fans to realize who was behind the bar. Soon after, the general manager followed suit, evicting the 25-year-old actor from the establishment – but only for a short time.
“As word spread around town that ‘apparently Tom Holland is bartending at this bar,’ the general manager began to realize what was going on. And then I was eventually kicked out “He elaborated. “I’ve returned to the bar, but it’s a bit of a rocky relationship right now. But I’ve been giving them a lot of attention. So they just stopped talking and let me go.”
Holland went completely undercover for the job, dressing in the clothes of the actual bartender on duty.
“I needed a white tuxedo and everything. I’d go in there, put on the bartender’s clothes, and work undercover “Holland divulged. “It was entertaining. I had a good time.”

Holland went out with his girlfriend, Zendaya, on Wednesday, and they most likely had someone else make the martinis for them. The couple was photographed holding hands as they exited a New York City hotel.
The two lovebirds were stylishly dressed as they headed out on a date night during New York Fashion Week. The Dune actress looked stunning in a black oversized shirt dress with a black belt, tights, and dark heels. Spider-Man himself wore a black turtleneck, a light grey suit, and black dress shoes. Both stars were dressed in matching black face masks.
Earlier in the day, the couple was spotted shopping in New York City’s Prada store. The two kept their PDA to a minimum during their rare public appearance, but the actor was seen holding Zendaya’s arm while at their SUV. On Tuesday evening, the two were also seen holding hands as they exited a restaurant in New York City.
The celebrity couple has been spending a lot of time together. Zendaya and Holland paid a visit to his family in London, England, last month.
