The Congress party has launched a critique against External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for his remarks on Rahul Gandhi’s recent speech in the United States. The party claims that it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who initiated the practice of discussing India’s interests on foreign soil. Jaishankar had criticized Gandhi for his habit of criticizing India while abroad and stated that taking national politics outside the country is not in the nation’s best interest.
Congress Hits Back at Jaishankar’s Comments
Reacting to Jaishankar’s statements, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh took to Twitter and pointed out that the person responsible for initiating the practice of discussing national politics abroad is none other than the individual who appointed Jaishankar as a minister. Ramesh emphasized that Jaishankar is aware of this fact but fails to acknowledge it.

Congress General Secretary Randeep Surjewala, when asked about Jaishankar’s criticism of Gandhi, accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of providing Jaishankar with an outdated script and suggested that he should adopt a new one.
Jaishankar Defends Government, Criticizes Gandhi’s Approach
During a press conference, Jaishankar addressed the strong remarks made by Rahul Gandhi against the Narendra Modi government during his US visit. Jaishankar clarified that he does not take issue with any actions or opinions expressed within India, but he believes it is inappropriate to discuss internal matters while abroad.
Jaishankar highlighted Rahul Gandhi’s tendency to criticize the country and make political comments whenever he travels overseas. He expressed confidence in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance’s ability to retain power in the upcoming parliamentary elections, asserting that the same party will secure victory in 2024.
The External Affairs Minister further argued that narratives against the government are predominantly created within the country. If a narrative fails to gain traction or lacks effectiveness domestically, it is taken abroad with the expectation that foreign support will influence India. Jaishankar concluded by stating that taking national politics abroad will not enhance Gandhi’s credibility.
