In a recent development, the Gandhinagar CID Crime police station in Gujarat apprehended three individuals, including the owner, associated with a visa consultancy firm. The arrests were made on December 27, 2023, following raids conducted on December 15. The accused are alleged to have engaged in fraudulent practices related to the facilitation of work and student visas for their clients.
Arrested Individuals
The arrested individuals are identified as Avkashbhai Jayantibhai Chaudhary, the owner of the visa consultancy firm and a resident of Visnagar in Mehsana, along with employees Sahil Vikeshbhai Patel and Krunal Kiritbhai Baria of Gandhinagar.
Charges
The accused are facing charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 467 (forgery of important documents), 468 (forgery for cheating), 471 (using forged documents as genuine), and 120B (criminal conspiracy).
Police Investigation
The arrests followed an investigation that involved the analysis of electronic devices such as laptops, hard disks, mobile phones, and pen drives by the Forensic Sciences Laboratory. The examination revealed that the accused were in possession of fabricated bank statements from various accounts.
The crackdown on visa consultancy agencies involved simultaneous raids on 17 premises, uncovering a web of document forgery and manipulation. The police action is a significant step in curbing fraudulent practices in the immigration and visa consulting sector. The accused individuals now face legal consequences for their alleged involvement in these activities.
