Karauli Shankar Mahadev in a spiritual ceremony held in the renowned Karauli Sarkar Poorvaj Mukti Dham in Kanpur discussed how Lord Parshuram became the ‘One Man Army’ that he is known for today. Lord Parshuram is considered the only disciple of Lord Shiva else everyone are his devotees, Guruji said in the beginning of his ceremonial address. However, he was quick to point out how Lord Parshuram struggled with memories or ‘Smriti’s’ of his father, who was murdered. Sri Karauli Shankar Mahadev said Lord Parshuram never committed any murder but it was under the influence of the negative ‘smritis’ or memories attached to loss of his father that forced him to go on a pursuit of revenge. Guruji pointed out how Lord Parshuram was powerful enough to destroy everything he wanted to with a blink of an eye but he never did anything.
Though when he got under the influence of thoughts of his father he would go out on a rampage. The mention of Parshuram’s revenge is mentioned everywhere, said Karauli Shankar Mahadev but no one will tell what happened after it. Quoting a spiritual tale Guruji said- When the smritis related to Lord Parshuram’s father got activated for the 21st time, people ran towards the place where Lord Jambavant and Lord Hanuman were present and prayed to save their lives as they were innocent and hadn’t killed his father. Then, Jambavant asked Lord Hanuman to save the lives of people and see how a sage like Lord Parshuram was after the lives of so many people.
Lord Hanuman, who is himself the incarnation of Lord Shiva went to confront Lord Parshuram but it went in vain after Lord Parshuram warned him to go away or else face his wrath. Then, according to mythology, a fierce battle between the two went on for five days. Neither Lord Parshuram was budging down nor Lord Hanuman wanted to lose. But, using his special powers Lord Hanuman rendered Lord Parshuram unconscious and then after having a conversation with Parshuram’s inner self , he came to know how ‘smritis’ of his dead father were continuously interfering with Lord Parshuram’s real self. Then, Lord Hanuman told forefathers of Lord Parshuram to consolidate all the negative ‘smritis’ and remove them from minds of Lord Parshuram.
When this happened, two drops of tears fell from Lord Parshuram’s eyes and he came back to consciousness.” Karauli Shankar Mahadev then said this is how important smriti or memories are if a saint or sage like Lord Parshuram was influenced under smriti’s like this then being a human it is very common for us to be influenced by smriti’s. Guruji then said that everyone will show you the negative side of Lord Parshuram but there would never be a greater saint than him in this world. Lord Parshuram after coming to consciousness helped for salvation of departed souls and showed them a way to heaven. This is how memories or smriti’s play an important role in or lives and this is why purification of memory is significant, Karauli Shankar Mahadev said at the end of his address to devotees.
