In a joint venture with KEC International (KEC), the Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) was awarded the Chennai Metro Rail contract for the construction of a 7.95 km high viaduct section and nine high stations on Phases II of Corridor 4 of the Chennai Metro. HCC’s participation in the JV is 51% (i.e. Rs 585 crore).
Metro Stations
The scope of work includes civil works, architectural works, plumbing and drainage as described in the drawings of the clients.
Nine elevated stations included the Chennai bypass, Ramachandra Hospital, the Bus Depot of Iyyapanthangal, Katupakkam, Kumanan Chavadi, Karayan Chavadi, Mullai Thottam, Poonamallee and Poonamallee Bypass. The work will be finished in 36 months.
HCC now executes a section for Mumbai Metro Line III with 3,115 meters of twin bored tunnels, 4 subway stations, a subway stretch involving Delhi and a subway station of 4051 m and a twin tunnel, two agreements for Pune Metro with 17 hill stations and a section of Bangalore Metro Rail project with a 6,340 m highway stretch, including a road-to-street
HCC has, in the past, been associated with 6 subway packages, totalling 18.14 km of tunnels and 13 subway stations in Delhi. In Kolkata Metro, HCC has built 6.47 km of tunnels in six packages with 4 subway stations. In Mumbai Metro I, 8 high stations were built.
This project will be completed in approximately three years.
The new station is Poonamallee Bypass, Chennai Bypass Crossing, Rarriacharidra Hospital, Kumanan Chavadi, Karayan Chavadi, Poonamallee Bus Terminus, Mullai Thottam and Katupakkam. The station is under construction.
HCC owns approximately 51 percent of the JV of $79.05 million (Rs5.85bn).
The company is now working on a Mumbai Metro Line lll section. This includes 3,115 m long, twin bored tunnels with four subway stations.
