Windows 10 users but also for running Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 Windows 11 might be available to upgrade free of charge. Some references about enhanced upgrade support have been made in advance of its official announcement in Windows 11 recently leaked.
A similar free upgrade to Windows 10 has been run by Microsoft previously. It aims to get more users into Windows’ latest operating system and to move people safely from older Microsoft-unsupported platforms.
XDA Developers have spotted some Windows 11 leaked product configuration keys carrying Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 titles. These keys might be a Microso indication It is interesting to note, however, that Windows 8 is not included in the setup keys.
This indicates that Windows 8 users might be required to upgrade to Windows 8.1 until Windows 11 is upgraded. Windows 7 is the second largest operating system in the world after Windows 10 and has a market share of 15.52 per cent since May, according to data provided by the analytical platform Statcounter. Windows 8.1 is followed by 3.44% of the share. Windows 8, by contrast, has 1.27% share.
June 24 is set for the Windows 11 launch. In advance of its debut, however, its leaky design, which proposed a new Start menu and other important interface, detailed the new operating system.
Windows 10 users receive a free upgrade of Windows 11 following release, although it is not clear whether it is immediately available for older operating systems. Microsoft has previously run a free Windows 10 Upgrade Program to allow users to move to the latest operating system on Windows 7 and later.
And although the Redmond company, based in Washington, ended its free upgrades in 2017, the option was found for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users until a few months ago.
