Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj worked tirelessly to bring justice to the common people during the British regime in India and worked to their advantage.
Shahu Bhosale was the Marathi social reformer and ruled from 1894-1922 as well. He was commonly named Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj or the Shahu of Kolhapur.
He played a leading role in Bahujan Samaj social upliftment and in Dalit development. Shahu Maharaj was born on 26 June 1874, and on 6 May 1922 breathed his last.
Let’s look at some of the lesser-known facts about the great king and reformer’s birthday:
(1) Jaisingrao Ghatge, and Radhabai were born Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj. His dad was the chief of the village, and his mom was of the royal Mudhol family.
He was, however, taken by King Anandibai, the widow of Kolhapur’s King Shivaji IV.
