Questions & Answers
Can you talk to us about when was the first time you realized that you wanted to become an actor?
To be honest, I never wanted to become an actor! (laughs). I was an enthusiastic, fun-loving child, always ready to explore new things. I wanted to pursue engineering earlier, but my fate brought me here, in the entertainment industry. It never really occurred to me that I might be an actor. Today, when I look back, I can’t believe that I have packed in so many years that have gone by.
2021 began on a positive note for you as you were busy shooting for music videos such as Moon and Nain Banjaare. Then, the second wave of COVID-19 hit the country and everything came to a halt again, right?
Yes, this year had definitely started well. Moreover, I was looking forward to busy months with plenty of work in the pipeline, but the second wave of the pandemic took over and everything was haywire. Online script narrations and workshops, however, continue for me. Apart from this, I am spending ample time amplifying requests on social media from my fans. I strongly feel, at this point, nothing is more important than getting the COVID situation under control.
You transitioned very quickly from small screen to digital medium. What are the perks of working in the digital medium?
Web series always have a lot of perks to offer. Here, an actor has a lot of time to revisit his character, review, and add more layers to it when he plays it next season. It is beautiful as it helps you grow as a person and a better actor.
You have been into modelling, acting, theatres, web series, and more recently music videos on YouTube. You seem like a versatile artist. Are there other career choices you feel like you want to dive into?
(laughs) Well, as I already said it’s not me but the destiny that eventually landed me in this industry. Although I think I want to excel more as an actor, still there are things I would love to dive into once, if I am given a chance. I love photography and could think of making a career in it. I play volleyball and I am pretty good at it to talk about sports. But at present, acting is the only thing I want to put my heart and soul into, rest, I will think later, fingers crossed!
If you were given a chance to go back in time, what would you do ?
I am so happy with my present that I never thought of going back in time. But if that could be possible, then I would just try to relive my childhood dream of becoming an Engineer at least once! (laughs)
You have also done some of the famous plays in theatre along with movies and television. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the theatre? Do you think theatre is a dying art form?
Theatre is not a dying art form, but I feel that it is losing its importance nowadays. It requires more awareness and visibility, as the theatre is the art form that gives you the golden opportunity to connect with the live audience. There is only action and no retake in it. I strongly feel that theatre actors are far better than other actors, as theatre introduces you to real acting.
Last but not the least, what inspires you, both in your reel life and real life in general ?
I think an actor must be able to make a perfect balance between the reel and real-life, then only he would be able to make it big. In reel life, I am truly inspired by some of the extraordinary performances especially by those artists, having their roots from theatres, as I personally began my journey from there only. And to talk about real life, my parents and my fans always motivate me to become a better version of myself.
