Warnings Issued to Multiple Regions Across Ukraine
In addition to the capital, warnings were issued to various other regions in Ukraine. These included Zhytomyr to the west of Kyiv, as well as Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, and Dnipropetrovsk in central Ukraine. Telegram channels, as reported by Reuters, also warned of possible strikes in the central region of Poltava and further south in the Mykolaiv region. The north of Kyiv and the regions to the south and west, namely Vinnystia, Khmelnytskyi, and Chernivtsi, were also given warnings.
Intense Russian Air Attack Thwarted by Ukrainian Air Defenses
This development comes after Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted all missiles aimed at the capital using Western-supplied systems, effectively thwarting an intense Russian air attack on Kyiv earlier on Tuesday. The attack, which targeted various locations across Ukraine, included six Russian Kinzhal aero-ballistic hypersonic missiles. This marked the highest number of Kinzhal missiles fired in a single attack since the beginning of the war, according to Ukrainian air force spokesman Yurii Ihnat, as reported by the Associated Press. However, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu later stated that Russia had not launched as many Kinzhal missiles as Ukraine claimed to have shot down.
