In an unexpected development, Alia Bhatt has withdrawn from her potential role as Sita in the upcoming film adaptation of the Hindu epic Ramayan. The movie, helmed by Nitesh Tiwari, stars Alia’s real-life partner Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and ‘KGF’ actor Yash in one of the lead roles.
Scheduling Woes Lead to Alia’s Exit
According to reports, Alia Bhatt’s departure from the project can be attributed to scheduling conflicts. While Ranbir Kapoor remains dedicated to portraying Lord Ram, Alia Bhatt, who was approached for the role of Goddess Sita, will no longer be part of the venture. The anticipated collaboration couldn’t come to fruition due to date-related issues.
Production Setback and Pre-production Delays
The production timeline for the film is facing setbacks as a result of Alia’s departure. Initially slated to commence shooting in December, the pre-production work was already in full swing. However, with Alia’s exit, the production schedule might experience a minor shift.
A source explains, “A magnum opus like Ramayana requires time and intense pre-production work, as they are going into the smallest details of everything to get it right on screen. Which is why things are progressing at a slower pace.”
Yash’s Continued Involvement
Contrary to rumors, Yash, the Kannada actor famous for his role in ‘KGF,’ remains actively engaged in discussions with the film’s producers and has not withdrawn from the project. Yash, who was in consideration for a role in Ramayan, has already undergone a look test. While there is optimism about his participation, Yash has yet to sign an agreement. His involvement also hinges on his commitment to a big-scale action thriller directed by National Award-winner Geethu Mohandas.
Unconfirmed Cast and Look Tests
Nitesh Tiwari, the director, was evasive when questioned about the cast of the movie. While Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Ram has been reported, there has been no official confirmation. Yash, on the other hand, has been undergoing multiple look tests for the character of Ravan.
As Alia Bhatt steps away from the role of Sita in Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious adaptation of Ramayan, the film’s production faces delays and adjustments. Ranbir Kapoor’s commitment to the project remains unwavering, and Yash’s potential involvement hangs in the balance as he juggles other commitments. Despite these challenges, the film’s team is dedicated to delivering a grand and meticulously crafted portrayal of the legendary tale on the silver screen.
