Due to the national holiday observed throughout the country, banks in India will be closed on Mahashivratri 2023. All banks are required to close on national holidays such as Republic Day, Independence Day, and Gandhi Jayanti. Bank holidays, such as Mahashivratri, on the other hand, are typically state-specific.
Banks in these locations will be closed on February 18 due to the Hindu festival Mahashivratri.
People from every Indian state (Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh or Telangana) come together to celebrate Mahashivratri.
Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Dehradun, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, Srinagar, and Thiruvananthapuram are among the cities included.
Mahashivaratri will take place in 2023.
The Mahashivratri festival takes place only once a year, in the months of February and March. It is said to be the most magical night of the year because it is the meeting point of Shiva and Shakti, the masculine and feminine forces that keep the world in balance. Shiva and Shakti are revered as the supreme deities in Hinduism, representing the union of opposites.
Shiva devotees fast for 24 hours, breaking their fast at sunrise the next day. Unlike most other festivals, Mahashivratri Puja occurs after dark.
On Mahashivratri in 2023, banks will open in the following states: Assam, Manipur, Rajasthan, Bengal, Delhi, Goa, Bihar, and Meghalaya. Tripura, Mizoram, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Assam, and Manipur are among the states.
