Amit Shah Launches BHARATPOL Portal: Transforming Indian Law Enforcement

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah, in a landmark move, launched the BHARATPOL portal at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The portal, developed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), is poised to transform the criminal investigation landscape by seamlessly connecting Indian law enforcement agencies with INTERPOL.

During the event, Shri Amit Shah also presented police medals to 35 CBI officers for their distinguished service and excellence in investigation. Several dignitaries, including the Union Home Secretary and the Director of CBI, graced the occasion.



A New Era of Crime Control

In his address, Amit Shah hailed BHARATPOL as a game-changer in global crime control. The portal integrates Indian law enforcement with INTERPOL’s 195-member countries, enabling quick and secure communication.

“BHARATPOL will expedite investigations, facilitate international cooperation, and ensure justice for victims by leveraging real-time connectivity,” Amit Shah said.

    • References: Eases international assistance in criminal investigations.
    • Broadcast: Provides instant access to requests from INTERPOL’s member countries.
    • Resources: Offers tools for document sharing and training programs.
  2. Real-Time Interface:
    This interface ensures seamless communication between agencies for faster data sharing and decision-making.
  3. Access to INTERPOL Databases:
    Officers can utilize 19 specialized databases to analyze trends, develop crime prevention strategies, and track fugitives.

Introduction of Trial in Absentia

Amit Shah pointed out the inclusion of Trial in Absentia in India’s new criminal laws, a provision that enables the prosecution of fugitive criminals in their absence. Combined with BHARATPOL’s advanced features, this provision simplifies extradition and strengthens the judicial process.

Driving Towards a Developed Nation

As India moves towards its centenary of independence in 2047, initiatives like BHARATPOL align with the vision of making India a developed nation. Amit Shah called this the Amrit Kaal, a golden era where India is striving to become a global leader in every sphere.
