Bill and Melinda Gates, who filed for divorce earlier this month, will have to wait until next year. Divorces among public figures have unfortunately become as common as weddings, with Bill and Melinda Gates being the most recent victims, who decided to call it quits after 27 years of marriage.

Bill and Melinda confessed in a joint Instagram statement that they “no longer believe” they “can grow together as a couple in this next phase of” their lives. Bill and Melinda’s divorce will undoubtedly be discussed for years to come, given the significant financial stakes involved.

And it appears that the estranged couple will have to wait until next year to make their court appearance. According to People, who obtained Melinda’s divorce petition, which was filed in King County, Washington on May 3, the chosen month for Bill and Melinda’s court appearance is April 2022.

Furthermore, the date for their Alternative Dispute Resolution is set for March 2022. The divorce case of Bill and Melinda will be reviewed in September before they appear in court.

According to recent developments, Bill transferred to Melinda more than 14 million shares of the Canadian National Railway Company and 2.9 million shares of AutoNation, which are currently worth more than USD 1.8 billion in stock, according to SEC filings obtained by E! News.

Furthermore, as they revealed in their joint statement announcing their separation, Bill and Melinda Gates will continue to work together on the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
