The Delhi High Court has issued an order compelling Twitter to provide basic subscriber information of certain users who have been sharing clips from Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film ‘Jawan.’ The court’s directive comes in response to a lawsuit filed by the film’s producer, Red Chillies Entertainments Pvt Ltd, and seeks to block the unauthorized dissemination of the film’s content.
Court’s Order and Background
The court had previously instructed YouTube, Twitter, and Reddit to remove and block any unauthorized broadcast of the film’s content and clips. Red Chillies Entertainments Pvt Ltd claimed that five Twitter accounts were posting infringing material and sought disclosure of the account-users’ details. In response, the Delhi High Court has directed Twitter to provide the subscriber information, including emails, IP addresses, and phone numbers, to the plaintiff’s counsel for further legal action.
Protection of Intellectual Property
The court’s interim order aims to prevent various rogue websites, internet service providers, and other platforms from copying, recording, displaying, or releasing any stills, songs, audio, and video clips related to ‘Jawan’ without the proper license. The production house alleges that clips and stills from the film are already circulating on the internet without their consent.
Release Date of ‘Jawan’
‘Jawan,’ starring Shah Rukh Khan, is scheduled to be released in theaters on September 7, according to information shared on Instagram by director Atlee Kumar.
