In a recent development, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has revised its norms, permitting passengers to carry two sealed bottles of alcohol on trains. This new allowance comes with certain restrictions, as drinking alcohol inside metro premises remains strictly prohibited.
Committee Review and Airport Express Line Parity
The decision to allow alcohol was made after a thorough review by a committee comprising officials from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and DMRC. As per the revised list, each passenger can carry a maximum of two sealed bottles of alcohol, aligning the provisions with those of the Airport Express Line.
Maintaining Decorum while Travelling
While the new allowance permits the carrying of alcohol on trains, the DMRC emphasizes the need for passengers to maintain proper decorum during their travels. In the event of any indecent behavior under the influence of alcohol, appropriate actions will be taken in accordance with relevant provisions of the law.
