Former Army Officer Opens Fire On Rajdhani Express After Seat Dispute

A 41-year-old man allegedly opened fire on the Sealdah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express on Thursday following a dispute with a coach attendant over a seat. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties in the incident. The accused, a retired Army officer, was subsequently apprehended.

"A retired Army officer mistakenly boards wrong train, disputes seat with coach attendant, leading to gunfire on Rajdhani Express."

The incident occurred between Dhanbad and Gomoh stations around 9:45 pm inside the B-7 coach, according to a railway official speaking to the news agency PTI.

Accused in Custody

The Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of the Dhanbad rail division, Amresh Kumar, stated, “The man, identified as Harvinder Singh, is being interrogated. Prima facie, it appears that he was in an inebriated state when he opened fire.”
