As the Israel-Hamas conflict reaches its tenth day, the Palestinian militant group, Hamas, has declared that it is undeterred by Israel’s threat of a ground assault on the Gaza Strip, which has been under blockade. This statement comes after Hamas initiated surprise attacks on Israel, prompting concerns of a potential ground invasion.
Hamas’s Resilience
Hamas’s military wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, stated that the threat of a ground offensive by Israel “doesn’t scare us, and we are ready for it.” Abu Obeideh, the spokesman of Hamas’s military wing, made this declaration on Monday, as reported by AFP.
Holding Hostages
During a televised statement, Abu Obeideh revealed that the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades had been holding 200 people captive since a massive assault on Israel’s south on October 7. Additionally, approximately 50 individuals were held by other “resistance factions and in other places.”
Despite the ongoing conflict and Israel’s ground assault threats, Hamas remains steadfast in its stance and readiness for any potential escalation in the hostilities.
