Haryana’s deputy chief minister, Dushyant Chautala, has emphasized that the alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) in Haryana was not formed out of compulsion. According to Chautala, the alliance, led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, was established with the aim of creating a stable government in the state. He stated that there were no external pressures or obligations influencing the formation of the alliance. Chautala made these remarks during a statement to the press on Saturday, as reported by the news agency ANI.

On Friday, Biplab Kumar Deb, the BJP Haryana incharge, held a significant discussion with Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar at the latter’s official residence. The meeting, which involved an in-depth exchange of views, focused on important state-related matters. The meeting occurred amid indications of emerging differences between the BJP and its ally, JJP. Additionally, four independent MLAs from Haryana met Deb in Delhi on Thursday and Friday, while Haryana Lokhit Party leader Gopal Kanda also had a meeting with him in the national capital.

Following the meeting with Deb, Chief Minister Khattar tweeted in Hindi, expressing that they had an in-depth discussion on important matters related to Haryana. He also shared a photograph of himself and Deb from the meeting. Deb, in a Hindi tweet, mentioned that they discussed various issues concerning agriculture, farmers, and other important matters pertaining to the state during the meeting.
Criticism Faced by the Haryana Government
The Haryana government has been facing criticism from multiple quarters after the police resorted to lathi-charging farmers who were demanding the procurement of sunflower seeds at minimum support price during a protest in Kurukshetra earlier in the week. Opposition parties, including the Congress, have accused the state government of being “anti-farmer.”
