Himachal Pradesh government decided on Wednesday to impose a “corona curfew” in the state from May 7 to midnight on May 16, in order to break the chain of Covid-19 transmission.

According to a government spokesperson, the decision to impose a COVID curfew in the state was made at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. According to the state Cabinet’s decision, all government and private offices will be closed during the curfew, but essential services such as health, electricity, telecommunications, water supply, sanitation, and others will remain open.
The Cabinet has also decided that work on civil construction sites, horticultural /agricultural sites, and other project sites will continue. “Educational institutions in the state will be closed until May 31,” the statement said. All government and private transportation would operate at 50% capacity, and interstate travel would continue.
According to a government statement, “industrial establishments will operate in accordance with state government guidelines.” The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education’s Class 10 board exams have also been cancelled by the Cabinet.
According to the official, all students will be promoted to Class 11 in accordance with CBSE guidelines for students in the same class. He said that until further orders, the board exams for Class 12 and college annual examinations would be suspended.
