Chinese Man Travels 2,000 Km To Leshan Giant Buddha, Uses Speaker To Blast Wishes For Girlfriend, Money
A Chinese man has gone to bizarre lengths to seek blessings from God in order to fulfill his wishes. He travelled 2,000 kilometres to the Leshan Giant Buddha in Sichuan Province to make his wishes come true. The manner in which he tried to seek blessings was peculiar. In a screenshot of the video that is going viral, a man holding a big Airpod-shaped speaker can be seen blasting out his prayers in front of the 71-metre-tall Buddha statue.
Making Wishes and Raising Volume
According to South China Morning Post, the video was posted on the Chinese social media named Douyin on April 25. In the video, he can also be seen raising the volume on his phone so that the deity “can hear him better”. The man shouted into the speaker, “Do you know, giant Buddha, I’m 27 years old and I don’t have a car, a house or a girlfriend.” He then goes on to make the wish and say, “Firstly, I want to be rich. I don’t need much. 10 million yuan (Rs 11.81 crore) is enough. Most importantly, I want a girlfriend, who is just a little bit pretty, tender and loves me rather than my 10 million!”
The Man’s Journey
Zhang, the man who travelled to the Buddha, said that following a run of bad luck as a result of “mercury retrograde”, he decided to spend 12 hours during the weekend to travel from China’s eastern Zhejiang province to southwestern Sichuan, to the Big Buddha, reported the South China Morning Post. Mercury retrograde is an astrological phenomenon that occurs three to four times a year and is an optical illusion involving the realignment of planet Mercury on which many blame their woes.
Going Viral
The video of the man using a speaker to blast his wishes at the Buddha has gone viral on social media. It is not the first time that people have travelled to places of worship to fulfill their wishes. However, this man’s method of using a speaker to communicate with the Buddha has certainly made it a unique story that is capturing people’s attention.
