Assistance and Relief Measures

The Indian Army took immediate steps to assist the stranded tourists. A total of 216 men, 113 women, and 54 children were shifted to three different Army camps. The Army provided them with hot meals and warm clothing to ensure their comfort.

Army’s Accommodation and Medical Support

To accommodate the stranded tourists, the Army soldiers vacated their own barracks, prioritizing the well-being of the tourists. At least three medical teams conducted thorough health checks on all the tourists. The initial medical assessment found them to be stable. However, one woman who had visited Gurudongmar Lake during the day complained of severe headache and dizziness at midnight.

Medical Care and Stable Condition

The Army’s medical team, including a female medical officer from a nearby field hospital, rushed to the camp to examine the woman. They detected signs of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) and provided immediate medical care. The patient was then shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the hospital. By Saturday morning, her condition had stabilized.
