Afsar Hussain, an Indigo passenger, was supposed to reach Patna from Delhi, but instead, he landed in Udaipur due to a boarding mix-up at the Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 1. Hussain had booked a flight to Patna on Indigo 6E-214 from Delhi on January 30, but he mistakenly boarded flight 6E-319 for Udaipur in Rajasthan.
Passenger Boards Wrong Flight by Mistake
Hussain scanned his boarding card for the Patna-bound 6E-214 at Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 1, but the mistake happened when he boarded the wrong coach, meant for the Udaipur-bound passengers of flight 6E-319. Boarding passes are usually checked twice, but it remains unclear why Hussain’s boarding pass was not thoroughly scanned, leading to the misboarding.
Realizes Destination Error Only After Landing
Hussain realized his mistake only after he had landed in Udaipur. He informed the airline, and they flew him to his original destination, Patna, the following day.
DGCA Seeks Report from Indigo, Warns of Action
The Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is investigating the incident to determine the cause of the misboarding and why Hussain’s boarding pass wasn’t thoroughly scanned. The senior regulatory official has warned of “appropriate action” after examining the matter. The DGCA has sought a report from the airline, Indigo.
In a statement, Indigo expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the passenger and stated that they were engaged with the authorities regarding the matter.
