Ishaq Dar Declares ‘Victory Will Be Ours’ Amid Escalating India-Pakistan Tensions

On May 10, 2025, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, made a resolute declaration in response to the escalating tensions between Pakistan and India. Addressing the media, Dar stated, “Victory will be ours,” emphasizing Pakistan’s right to defend its sovereignty against what he termed as India’s unprovoked aggression.

The statement comes in the wake of Pakistan’s military operation, Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos, launched as a countermeasure to India’s recent missile strikes on Pakistani airbases. Dar highlighted that Pakistan’s actions are purely defensive, aimed at safeguarding national integrity and responding to continuous Indian hostility.

Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos: A Defensive Stance

Pakistan’s military initiated Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos targeting Indian military installations following India’s missile attacks on Pakistani airbases, including Nur Khan near Islamabad. Dar emphasized that these operations are precise and aimed solely at military targets, avoiding civilian areas.

He stated, “Our operation is precise. The world is watching and understands that we are acting in self-defence.” Dar also mentioned that Pakistan had intercepted most of the missiles fired by India and responded accordingly to neutralize the threat.

Call for De-escalation and International Involvement

While asserting Pakistan’s right to defend itself, Dar also indicated a willingness to de-escalate the situation, provided India ceases its aggressive actions. He conveyed this message to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, stating, “If they stop here, we will also consider stopping.”

Dar criticized India’s approach, accusing it of spreading false narratives and failing to provide evidence for its claims. He urged the international community to recognize the situation’s gravity and hold India accountable for its actions.

What Lies Ahead

The current escalation marks one of the most severe confrontations between the two nuclear-armed neighbors in recent years. With both nations expressing a conditional willingness to de-escalate, the international community’s role becomes crucial in mediating and preventing further conflict.

As the situation develops, the focus remains on diplomatic efforts to restore peace and stability in the region, with global powers urging restraint and dialogue between India and Pakistan.
