Jamshedpur FC vs NorthEast United: Eze and Javi Power Red Miners to Dominant Semifinal Spot

Jamshedpur FC vs NorthEast United ended in a decisive 2-0 victory for the visitors at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong on Sunday, ensuring a place for the Red Miners in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 semifinals. With this win, Jamshedpur FC are set to clash with League Shield winners Mohun Bagan Super Giant in the two-legged semifinal starting April 3.

Eze’s Strike Sets the Tone

The breakthrough came in the 29th minute when a long throw-in by Ashutosh Mehta landed inside the NorthEast United box. Stephen Eze, showing quick footwork for a defender, controlled the ball and fired from a sharp angle into the top-left corner, giving Jamshedpur the early lead.

Missed Chances and Red Card Drama

The Red Miners could have doubled their lead in the 83rd minute on a blistering counterattack. Jordan Murray got past Asheer Akhtar and sent in a pinpoint cross for Javi Siverio, but the shot sailed just over the bar.

Tensions rose in the 88th minute when Mobashir Rahman was shown a red card for a rash challenge, reducing Jamshedpur to 10 men for the final minutes.

Javi Hernandez Seals It in Stoppage Time

Despite being a man down, Javi Hernandez found space in injury time, linking up with Ritwik Das to carve through NorthEast United’s defense. The Spaniard calmly slotted the ball home to confirm Jamshedpur’s semifinal qualification.

Up Next: Mohun Bagan Await

With this win, Jamshedpur FC now look ahead to their semifinal showdown against Mohun Bagan Super Giant, scheduled for April 3 and April 7. As the League Shield winners, Mohun Bagan will prove a stern test for the Red Miners, but Sunday’s performance shows they are up for the challenge.

Jamshedpur FC March On

In a tightly contested Jamshedpur FC vs NorthEast United fixture, it was individual brilliance from Stephen Eze and Javi Hernandez that made the difference. With a semifinal spot secured, Jamshedpur will look to carry this momentum into their clash against one of the ISL’s most formidable teams.
