Out of over 41,000 students, a total of 10,590 students have successfully secured admissions to the Jharkhand government’s Schools of Excellence (SoEs). These schools offer a total of 11,936 seats, and 7,499 students have been admitted to classes one, six, and nine. The Jharkhand government’s aim is to provide quality education to 15 lakh students studying in state government schools. As part of this educational reform, the government plans to establish 325 block-level schools and 4,091 gram panchayat-level model schools across the state in the second phase.
Vocational Training and Domains of Expertise
The Jharkhand government has announced that students enrolled in the 80 Schools of Excellence will not only receive quality education but also undergo vocational training in 11 different trades. These trades include agriculture, IT, ITES, apparel and makeup, home furnishing, media and entertainment, automotive, tourism and hospitality, beauty and wellness, multi-skilling, electronics and hardware, retail, and healthcare. The government aims to equip students with practical skills and prepare them for various industries.
A Step Towards Quality English-Medium Education
Earlier this year, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren inaugurated the 80 state government-run Schools of Excellence. Through this initiative, the government aims to provide quality English-medium education to children on par with private schools. The principals of these schools have participated in online training provided by the National Center for School Leadership in two phases, ensuring effective school management and leadership.
By implementing these reforms and establishing Schools of Excellence, the Jharkhand government is taking significant steps to enhance the quality of education and provide ample opportunities for the enrolled students to thrive in their chosen fields.
