Kareena Kapoor Khan surprised her fans on Wednesday, March 16 morning by announcing her new thriller film, which she will star in alongside Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma. Sujoy Ghosh of ‘Kahaani’ fame will direct the untitled Netflix Original.
Kareena took to Instagram to share a video announcing that filming for the film had begun. She penned, “And so it starts… A Netflix Original directed by Sujoy Ghosh is presented by 12th Street Entertainment and Northern Lights Films in association with Boundscript and Kross Pictures. Jay Shewakramani and Akshai Puri produced the film. Sujoy Ghosh and Thomas Kim produced.”
Kareena is seen singing the retro song ‘Aa Jaane Jaan’ in the monochromatic video, and at the end of the video, it is revealed that the film will be based on the acclaimed Japanese thriller ‘The Devotion of Suspect X’ by Keigo Higashino, which was released in 2005. The award-winning best-seller has already been translated into Japanese as ‘Suspect X,’ Korean as ‘Perfect Number,’ and Chinese as the eponymous title. The novel is also said to have influenced a 2019 Tamil film titled ‘Kolaigaran.’

Meanwhile, Kareena Kapoor Khan will next be seen in Aamir Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha,’ an official remake of the Oscar-winning Hollywood film ‘Forrest Gump.’ Jaideep Ahlawat will next be seen in the web series ‘Bloody Brothers,’ which stars Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and is a remake of the British TV series Guilt. Vijay Varma’s upcoming film is the dark comedy-drama ‘Darlings,’ starring Alia Bhatt and Shefali Shah.
