The ruling Congress in Karnataka has taken legal action against the BJP’s social media operations, alleging that they have published derogatory content targeting the state’s Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, and Deputy Chief Minister, D K Shivakumar. This move follows a series of disputes on social media, with the Congress stating that the BJP intentionally disseminated false information to confuse the public.
Allegations of Misleading Social Media Posts
Karnataka Congress general secretary, Surya Mukundaraj, has accused the BJP’s Karnataka social media handle of spreading misinformation even before the conclusion of an ongoing investigation. The allegations include attempts to create confusion among the public by sharing false information through social media channels.
Distorted Images and Fake Claims
Furthermore, Congress claims that the BJP manipulated and distorted images of the Chief Minister and his Deputy to manipulate public perception. Among the contentious content shared, the BJP depicted that the Income Tax Department had seized vast amounts of cash totaling Rs 94 crore, along with valuables worth Rs 8 crore, in raids conducted in Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Delhi from Congress members.
