Mhaske also alleged Kamra was paid by Uddhav Thackeray to target Shinde. “His party is left with no real support, so they are hiring people like Kamra to do their work. He will now face the consequences of mocking Shinde,” he added.
In a further escalation, Shiv Sena workers vandalised the hotel where the video was filmed, leading to condemnation from opposition leaders.
Sanjay Raut Shares Video, Faces Heat
The controversy intensified when Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut shared the video on social media platform X, captioning it “Kunal Ka Kamal”. The post drew strong criticism from the Shinde faction, who accused Raut of instigating disrespect towards their leader.

In response to the vandalism, Raut tweeted, “Kunal Kamra is a well-known writer and stand-up comedian. He composed a parody song on Maharashtra’s political scenario. The Shinde gang then ransacked the studio. Devendraji, you are a weak home minister.”
Police Complaint Likely as Tensions Rise
Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel has also stepped into the controversy, warning Kamra and demanding an apology. “I will show him his level,” Patel said, adding that he plans to file an FIR against Kamra at the MIDC police station.
Despite the growing threats, Kamra has not issued a public statement yet. However, the episode has reignited debates around freedom of expression, political satire, and the growing intolerance to criticism in Maharashtra’s current political environment.
