Maharashtra’s Budget for 2023-24: Allocations and Announcements
Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presented the state’s Budget for 2023-24 in the Assembly on Thursday, making several announcements related to the conservation of forts and the celebration of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s life.
Establishment of a Museum on Shivneri Fort
The highlight of the Budget announcement was the establishment of a museum dedicated to the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on Shivneri Fort. The iconic 17th-century ruler was born on the fort in the Pune district, and the museum will showcase his life and legacy.
Conservation of Forts
Fadnavis also announced an allocation of Rs 300 crore for the conservation of forts built by Shivaji Maharaj. The funds will be used to maintain and preserve these historic structures.
Celebration of Shiv Rajyaabhishek Mahotsav
To celebrate Shivaji Maharaj’s 1674 coronation, the state will allocate Rs 350 crore for the Shiv Rajyaabhishek Mahotsav. The event will be held from June 2 to 9, 2023, and is expected to be a grand celebration of the iconic ruler’s life and legacy.
Setting up of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Theme Park
Another major announcement in the Budget was the allocation of Rs 50 crore for the setting up of a Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Theme Park in the Haweli taluka of Pune district. The theme park will showcase the life and times of the legendary ruler through various interactive exhibits.
Development of Public Parks
Fadnavis also announced the development of public parks in Mumbai, Amravati, Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, and Nagpur, with audio-visual media facilities showcasing the life story of Shivaji Maharaj. Rs 250 crore has been allocated for this purpose.
