West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accused the Border Security Force (BSF) of scaring voters in the border areas of the state. She claimed that some BSF officials are visiting the border areas and threatening voters, asking them not to vote. Mamata Banerjee made these remarks while addressing a panchayat election rally in the Cooch Behar district of the state. She added that she has information about these activities and urged people not to be scared and to participate fearlessly in the elections. The Bengal CM also referred to the alleged shooting of villagers by the BSF last year and stated that the police will take appropriate action in such cases.
Mamata Banerjee vows to defeat BJP in upcoming rural polls
During her campaign, Mamata Banerjee asserted that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) will defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming rural polls on July 8. She expressed confidence in defeating the BJP not only in the state but also at the national level. Banerjee emphasized the importance of a clean record for TMC candidates in the elections and stated that her party will ensure corruption-free governance at the grassroots level.
Mamata targets Congress and CPM, accuses them of working with BJP
Mamata Banerjee criticized the Congress and Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) for allegedly working with the BJP in West Bengal. She accused them of playing second fiddle to the saffron camp in the state and hindering her efforts to form a grand opposition alliance against the BJP at the national level. Banerjee pledged to break this “unholy nexus” and create a larger alliance (Mahajot) against the BJP. In response, the West Bengal Congress president and the CPI(M) criticized Mamata Banerjee’s claims and questioned her credibility in the fight against the BJP.
