Amit Banerji, the founder, chairman, and CEO of Table Space, a leading managed workspace solutions provider, passed away on January 6, 2025, at the age of 44. The immediate cause of his death is yet to be confirmed, though initial media reports suggest a heart attack.

Table Space, backed by Hillhouse Capital, is recognized as a market leader in enterprise managed workspaces, partnering with Fortune 500 companies like Google, Apple, and Dell. The firm specializes in leasing, modernizing, and co-owning commercial real estate through joint ventures with Indian realtors.

Banerji’s leadership had positioned Table Space for a potential public offering in 2025, with a targeted valuation of $2.5 billion and a fundraise of over ₹3,500 crore.

Early Life and Career Highlights

A graduate of Punjab Technical University with a B.Tech in Computer Science, Banerji began his professional journey with Accenture in 2004. Over 13 years at the firm, he developed expertise in real estate strategy, acquisitions, deal structuring, and operations.

This experience served as a foundation for Banerji’s entrepreneurial venture. Alongside seven co-founders, including Vice-chairman Karan Chopra and President Kunal Mehra, Banerji transformed Table Space into a leader in managed workspaces.

Banerji’s passing is the latest in a series of tragic losses within India’s startup ecosystem.

  • Rohan Malhotra, co-founder of Good Capital, passed away on October 1, 2024.
