In a significant development, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde declared on Sunday that the Mumbai coastal road, linking Marine Drive with the Bandra Worli Sea Link, will be toll-free. The first phase of this 10.58-km high-speed corridor is set to open after January 31.

The coastal road project encompasses a 10.58-km high-speed corridor connecting Marine Drive to the Bandra Worli Sea Link through a network of arterial roads, underground tunnels, and traffic interchanges.
Construction Milestones
According to Chief Minister Shinde, the construction work for the phase between Worli and Marine Drive, inclusive of the undersea tunnel, is expected to conclude by January 31. Following this, the first phase will be opened to motorists. The remaining construction is projected to be completed by May 31, making the entire corridor operational.
