In a tragic incident that has shocked Rajasthan’s Alwar, a Muslim youth lost his life in a brutal mob lynching, while two others sustained injuries. The incident unfolded on suspicion of wood theft, highlighting the escalating concern of mob violence in the region.
Details of the Incident
According to reports, the victim, identified as 27-year-old Wasim, was lynched by a mob following allegations of chopping wood. Over a dozen individuals reportedly stopped the car carrying the three youths and initiated the attack. Wasim’s family alleges that the attackers arrived in a forest department vehicle, although confirmation is yet to be obtained from the authorities.
Circumstances Leading to the Tragedy
The incident reportedly took place when Wasim and two other youths were cutting trees near a house with the landlord’s consent. However, as they were about to take the wood, they were informed about the presence of a forest department team in the vicinity. Concerned about the possibility of being fined for possessing wood without permission, the boys decided to leave without the wood.
Unfortunate Turn of Events
While the trio was on their way back, they were intercepted by a group of individuals associated with the Forest Department. The attackers forcefully stopped their vehicle and initiated a violent assault on them.
Official Response and Investigation
Jagram Meena, Additional SP, confirmed that the injured individuals were rushed to the hospital, but tragically, one person succumbed to his injuries. The police promptly reached the scene upon receiving information about the mob lynching in Narol village. While some of the accused managed to flee, a few were taken into custody for further investigation.
Forest Department’s Involvement
The role of forest department officials in the incident is under scrutiny. Authorities are currently investigating the angle of their potential involvement in the attack.
