Recent reports suggesting legal trouble for Nayanthara’s Netflix documentary Beyond the Fairy Tale over the use of clips from the 2005 Tamil film Chandramukhi have been dismissed. A No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Sivaji Productions has surfaced, confirming that the producers of the Rajinikanth-starrer granted permission to use the footage without any monetary demands.
Key Highlights:
Details of the NOC
Film trade analyst Ramesh Bala shared the NOC on his X (formerly Twitter) account, dispelling the controversy. The document from Sivaji Productions clearly states:
“Sivaji Productions has no objection to the use of the following footage in the Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale.”
The certificate also provides indemnity to Rowdy Pictures, Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan’s production company, against any claims or disputes arising from the footage’s authorized use.
Contrary to rumors, the producers of Chandramukhi did not demand Rs 5 crore for the rights.
Dhanush’s Objections
This is not the first time Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale has faced legal scrutiny. Actor Dhanush had previously sent a legal notice to Rowdy Pictures, objecting to the unauthorized use of clips from his 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan.
Social Media Reactions
The circulation of the NOC has largely put the controversy to rest, with fans and industry insiders appreciating the transparency. One user wrote:
“Glad to see the truth come out. Nayanthara’s documentary deserves all the accolades without unnecessary controversies.”
With the NOC confirming that the use of Chandramukhi clips in Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale was legitimate, the controversy has been effectively laid to rest. As the Netflix documentary continues to receive praise, Nayanthara and her team can move forward without further legal distractions.
