Neena Gupta remembered an occurrence when a producer had asked her to stay with him for the night. In her book, after hearing the word out of the producer’s mouth, she wrote that her blood froze.
Neena Gupta discusses her experience on the casting couch. In her autobiography, Neena Gupta stated that she received a call from a South film industry producer asking her to meet with him.
She finished her performance at Mumbai’s Prithvi Theatre and decided to pay the producer a visit because the hotel where he was staying was nearby. When the producer summoned Neena Gupta to his room, she realised something was wrong. “My basic instinct told me not to go upstairs,” she wrote in her book. That I should instead ask him to come down to the lobby.”
The book says in an excerpt, “‘So, sir, what is my role?’ When he paused for his breath, I finally asked him. ‘Friend of the heroine,’ he said. It looked like a very small part when he explained it to me. ‘All right… Now, sir, I gotta go. “My friends are expecting me….” I said. Go? He asked where. Where? He really looked shocked.

Neena Gupta spoke in one of her chapters of how she filmed the popular dance track Khal Nayak in 1993. The Gujarati tribe outfit she was made for the song to wear. When the director Subhash Ghai was presented, he disapproved and screamed, “Kuch Bharo.”
Neena continued that he referred to her choli in her opinion, stating that it had to be filled. The actress opened up to the point where she felt embarrassed and did not shoot the same day. It was too personal to comment on it, Neena Gupta said.
