Novak Djokovic continued his quest for a record-breaking seventh Miami Open title by defeating Sebastian Korda 6-3, 7-6(4) in a quarter-final match that was postponed from Wednesday. With this win, Djokovic advances to the semi-finals and moves one step closer to his 100th tour-level trophy.
At 37 years and 10 months, Djokovic becomes the oldest ATP Masters 1000 semi-finalist in history, surpassing Roger Federer, who reached the last four in Indian Wells and Miami at 37 years and seven months in 2019.
Key Highlights:
Novak Djokovic’s Near-Perfect Performance Against Korda

Djokovic was nearly flawless on his serve throughout the match. In the opening set, he dropped only one point on his first serve, serving with precision and power. The fourth seed closed the first set with ease, winning the final 12 points, and managed to win 84% of his first-serve points during the one-hour, 22-minute match.
Reflecting on his serving, Djokovic said, “As good as one can feel about his serve. Unbelievable serving the whole tournament, I’ve been serving really well. Especially today and I needed it because Sebastian in the second set was just making me run and he was playing really well from the back of the court.”
Second Set Drama: Korda Pushes Djokovic but Falls Short

In the second set, Korda came out strong, racing to a 3-0 lead and later served for the set at 5-3. However, Djokovic raised his level at crucial moments, engaging in longer rallies and forcing errors from the 24-year-old American. Korda was two points from capturing the set on return at 6-5, but Djokovic’s serves got him out of trouble, and he broke back to level the score.
Djokovic added, “It took some serves to get out of trouble. I was 0-3, 0/30 down, had some good serves and put myself in a position to break back, which I did. Tie-break could have been anybody’s game, but again, serve got me out of trouble.”
Key Stats and Future Matchup

With the win, Djokovic now leads Korda 2-0 in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series. Their previous encounter was in the 2023 Adelaide final, where Korda held championship point before Djokovic stormed back to win in a three-set thriller.
Now ranked No. 5 in the PIF ATP Rankings, Djokovic improved to 48-7 at the Miami Open. He is two wins away from securing a seventh Miami title, which would break his tie with Andre Agassi for the most titles at the ATP Masters 1000 event.
Next Opponent: Grigor Dimitrov

In the semi-finals, Djokovic will face 14th seed Grigor Dimitrov, whom he leads 12-1 in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series. Djokovic has been in outstanding form this tournament, with his lone loss in Miami coming in the 2009 final to his current coach Andy Murray.
Djokovic Eyes Seventh Miami Open Title

As Djokovic continues his chase for a record seventh Miami Open title, his dominant performance against Sebastian Korda has shown that he is still a force to be reckoned with at 37. With an upcoming semi-final clash against Grigor Dimitrov, the stage is set for another high-stakes encounter as Djokovic pushes towards his 100th tour-level title. Fans can expect another thrilling match as he aims to add to his legendary career.
