Odisha Takes Key Precautions As Cyclone Dana Approaches: 6 IAS Officers Deployed, Trains Cancelled, Monuments Closed

In response to the approaching Cyclone Dana, the Odisha government has swiftly mobilized resources to mitigate the impact. Six senior IAS officers have been deployed to oversee disaster management efforts across vulnerable districts. These officers will coordinate emergency services and ensure timely evacuation of at-risk communities.

200 Trains Cancelled as a Safety Measure

To prevent any transportation-related mishaps, over 200 train services have been cancelled. This measure is aimed at reducing the risk for travelers and allowing for smoother emergency operations. Passengers affected by the cancellations have been advised to check with the railway authorities for updates and potential refunds.

Monuments and Tourist Sites Temporarily Closed

In a bid to ensure public safety, Odisha has ordered the closure of all major monuments and tourist attractions. Sites such as the Konark Sun Temple and other iconic landmarks will remain shut until the cyclone passes. Authorities have also issued advisories for residents and tourists to avoid coastal areas.

Evacuations and Relief Operations Underway

Evacuation plans are in place for areas expected to be hardest hit. Relief shelters have been prepared with essential supplies such as food, water, and medical aid. The state government is coordinating with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to assist with evacuations and post-cyclone recovery.

Coastal Areas on High Alert

Coastal regions are on high alert, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting heavy rainfall and strong winds. Fishermen have been warned against venturing into the sea, and maritime activities have been suspended until further notice.
