Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to undertake a five-day tour to two nations, the United States and Egypt, starting on June 20. During this visit, he will engage in discussions with US President Joe Biden and Egypt President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Schedule of PM Narendra Modi’s Visit
June 21: New York, USA
The visit will commence in New York, where PM Modi will lead the celebrations of the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations Headquarters. This day holds significance as it was proclaimed as the International Day of Yoga by the UN General Assembly in December 2014.
June 22: Washington D.C., USA
Prime Minister Modi will travel to Washington D.C., where he will receive a ceremonial welcome at the White House. He will hold high-level discussions with President Biden, and a State Dinner will be hosted in his honor by President Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden. Additionally, at the invitation of Congressional Leaders, PM Modi will address a Joint Sitting of the U.S. Congress.
June 23: Washington D.C., USA
On this day, PM Modi will be jointly hosted at a luncheon by US Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken. He is also scheduled to have curated interactions with leading CEOs, professionals, and stakeholders, as well as meet members of the Indian Diaspora.
June 24-25: Cairo, Egypt
After concluding his three-day visit to the USA, Prime Minister Modi will depart for Egypt and arrive in Cairo on June 24. The invitation for this visit was extended by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi during his participation as the Chief Guest at India’s Republic Day celebrations in January. This will mark PM Modi’s first visit to Egypt. Apart from holding talks with President Sisi, he will also interact with senior dignitaries from the Egyptian Government, prominent Egyptian personalities, and the Indian community in Egypt.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
The visit underscores the deep-rooted trade, economic, and cultural ties between India and Egypt. The two countries have agreed to elevate their relationship to a ‘Strategic Partnership’ during President Sisi’s State Visit to India in January 2023.
