On Saturday, President Droupadi Murmu took a sortie on the Indian Air Force’s Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft in Assam, demonstrating her engagement with the armed forces as the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces. This event is part of her three-day visit to Assam.
Arrival at Tezpur Air Force Station

Upon her arrival at the Tezpur Air Force Station, President Murmu was accorded a Guard of Honour. She also interacted with Air Force officers, who briefed her on the operational capabilities of the aircraft and the Indian Air Force (IAF).
Exhilarating Experience for the President

President Murmu expressed her exhilaration and wrote a brief note, saying, “It was an exhilarating experience for me to fly in the mighty Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force. It is a matter of pride that India’s defence capabilities have expanded immensely to cover all the frontiers of land, air and sea. I congratulate the Indian Air Force and the entire team of Air Force Station Tezpur for organizing this sortie.”
Inauguration of Gaj Utsav 2023

On Friday, President Murmu inaugurated the ‘Gaj Utsav 2023’ at the Kaziranga National Park, which marks 30 years of Project Elephant. During the programme, she said, “The responsibility of man-elephant conflicts rests on the human society.” She also witnessed cultural performances of Assamese dance forms.
Engaging with the People of Assam

President Murmu interacted with the people of Assam on the sidelines of the event. She will also fly a sortie on the Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft on Saturday from the Tezpur Air Force Station.
This event demonstrates President Murmu’s engagement with the Indian Armed Forces and her commitment to India’s defence capabilities. Her three-day visit to Assam also includes the inauguration of ‘Gaj Utsav 2023’ and cultural performances
