To the delight of her fans, the first images from Priyanka Chopra’s upcoming series Citadel, executive produced by the Russo brothers, were released on Monday. Her followers, however, were caught off guard by yet another surprise. Priyanka hid a QR code for the Citadel teaser trailer in one of the photos she shared on social media.
The image includes an image of Richard Madden’s character Mason Kane viewing a screen with information about Priyanka’s Nadia Sinh and a QR code. Simply scanning the QR code will take you to the teaser for the hidden series. The series’ caravan will be released on March 1, and this teaser foreshadows that date without revealing any major plot points.
The teaser begins with actor Stanley Tucci saying, “Everything you think you know is a lie. You were fantastic rather than real. You were, in essence, the Citadel. Clips from the show’s action sequences play in the background as he speaks. A shot of Priyanka in a green gown looking over her shoulder is also included. In the show, she plays an elite agent.
Nick Jonas is very proud of his wife’s performance in the show. I am extremely proud of you, @priyankachopra “After seeing the first Citadel images, he wrote to Priyanka Chopra on Instagram. Prepare yourselves. This show is extraordinary, cutting-edge, and ground-breaking.
Priyanka had earlier called the show ‘innovative’ and a ‘interesting experiment’. “You don’t have to watch the American show to understand,” she said on Inside TV’s Best Big Bet panel. If you watch every other show, you’ll notice that they’re all linked in ways that have never been attempted on television before. I find it fascinating that Amazon, the world’s largest streaming service, is attempting this.
Citadel is executive produced by the Russo brothers’ AGBO production company. The first two episodes will be available on Amazon Prime Video on April 28, with new episodes released every Friday until May 26. Production issues and subsequent reshoots are said to have increased the show’s budget to an unprecedented $250 million.
Citadel will serve as the “mothership” series for future installments set in India, Italy, and Mexico. The Indian adaptation will be directed by Raj and DK, the directors of The Family Man. Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu appear to be the show’s main protagonists. In Italy, the series will be starred by Matilda De Angelis.
