Due to a new coronavirus outbreak in Pakistan, the PSL franchises have written to the Cricket Board of Pakistan (PCB) requesting that the rescheduled matches of the sixth edition of the league be moved to the UAE from Karachi.
Due to COVID-19 cases among players and officials, the PCB was forced to postpone PSL-6 on March 4th, with only 10 of 34 matches completed.
The tournament will resume on June 1st, with the finals taking place on June 20th.
According to ESPNcricinfo, all six teams sent a letter to the board last week requesting that the remaining games from Karachi to the UAE be moved from the rescheduled 2021 edition of the tournament.
The PCB “reflects on the application and reviews current plans,” according to the report.
According to the original plan, all teams will meet in Karachi on May 23 to begin their mandatory 7-day quarantine. Between the 2nd and 14th of June, 16 stage matches will be played.
The playoffs will take place from June 16 to June 18.
Recently, there has been an increase in cases in Pakistan, and parts of the country are partially imprisoned.
Last week, the Pakistani government announced an 80 percent reduction in international flights to assist in the fight against the rising number of COVID-19 cases.
The PCB appointed a two-person fact-finding panel last month to review PSL-6’s bio-security protocols, regulations, and arrangements, as well as make recommendations on how to improve the implementation of a bio-safe environment for future events.
Following the announcement of the resumption date, the teams held a replacement draught because several foreign players had withdrawn from the event.
The BCCI was forced to postpone the Indian Premier League indefinitely on Tuesday after several instances of the COVID-19 among players and support staff within their biobubbles.
