Prasanna Sankar, the co-founder of multi-billion dollar HR-tech startup Rippling, has made explosive allegations against his estranged wife and the Chennai police. The entrepreneur claimed he is “on the run” following a kidnapping complaint filed by his wife, Dhivya, regarding their son’s custody dispute.
Key Highlights:
From Marriage Breakdown to Legal Warfare

Sankar alleged that after discovering his wife’s affair, their marriage deteriorated and divorce proceedings began. Disagreements over the financial terms reportedly led Dhivya to lodge multiple serious accusations, including assault, rape, and cyber exploitation. Sankar claims that Singapore police investigated and cleared him of all charges.
He also stated that Dhivya had previously taken their nine-year-old son to the US without consent, prompting him to file an international child abduction case. A US court allegedly ruled in Sankar’s favour, resulting in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) involving shared custody, ₹9 crore payout, and monthly payments.
MoU Breach Sparks Further Trouble
Despite initially complying with the custody arrangement in Chennai, Sankar claimed Dhivya later dismissed the MoU’s validity and attempted to renegotiate terms. Matters escalated when she allegedly lured their son to a hotel lobby and later filed a kidnapping complaint after Sankar intervened.
Accusations Against Chennai Police

Sankar alleged the Chennai police tracked him without filing an FIR and even detained his friend Gokul without producing him before a magistrate. He claimed the police demanded ₹25 lakh to release Gokul, calling the entire episode a targeted extortion effort.
“The Thirumangalam police are harassing me for money, knowing I’m a successful founder,” Sankar posted on X, urging public support.
Wife’s Counterclaims On Rippling Co-founder Prasanna Sankar

Dhivya, on the other hand, accused Sankar of forcibly taking their son and never returning him. She described him as a “sex predator,” alleging prior arrests and tax evasion via fraudulent asset transfers to relatives in Thailand. She also accused Sankar of coercing her into signing documents to suppress reports of these crimes.
Chennai Police Deny Allegations
A senior official from the Chennai police has termed Sankar’s claims as “baseless.” Media reports indicate the police are preparing a joint press conference with Dhivya to address the mounting controversy.
As legal and personal battles intensify, Prasanna Sankar’s case presents a tangled web of allegations, counterclaims, and high-profile controversy. With both parties sticking to their narratives, the full picture is yet to emerge, but the spotlight on the Rippling founder shows no signs of dimming.
