In Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, a group of seven trekkers who were stranded due to harsh weather conditions were successfully rescued by the State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) today, according to news agency ANI. The group found themselves stuck in Uttarkashi during their journey from Gangotri to Tapovan.
SDRF’s Rescue Operation
The SDRF squad covered a distance of 24 kilometers in order to locate the group, provide assistance, and transport them securely to Gangotri. Their prompt response and efforts ensured the safety of the stranded trekkers.
Weather Alert and Police Advisory
Prior to the rescue operation, the Uttarakhand State Meteorological Department had issued a yellow alert for June 1, following continuous rainfall in Uttarkashi since last week, as reported by PTI. In light of the challenging weather conditions, the police issued an advisory, urging pilgrims and travelers to stay in safe places and avoid unnecessary travel. The police emphasized the importance of monitoring the weather forecast and carrying necessary protective gear during journeys to Yamunotri and Gangotri Dham.
