The two key equity benchmarks, Sensex and Nifty, on Tuesday showed gains after paring early losses. Despite a flat start, the domestic indices traded higher with the BSE Sensex up by 115 points at 66,643, and the NSE Nifty50 trading at 19,784, up 30 points.
NTPC, TechM, Tata Motors, M&M, HCL, Infosys Among Early Gainers
On the 30-share Sensex platform, NTPC, TechM, Tata Motors, M&M, HCL, and Infosys were among the early gainers. However, PowerGrid, Bajaj Finserv, Asian Paints, Reliance, IndusInd Bank, and L&T faced losses. Power Grid’s shares fell 3% after reporting a 5% drop in consolidated net profit YoY to Rs 3,597 crore in Q1FY24.
Broader Markets Show Uptrend
In the broader markets, Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 indices gained up to 0.6%. While realty stocks declined by 1%, sectors like auto, IT, and metals showed buying interest.
Previous Session Performance
In the previous trading session on Monday, the S&P BSE Sensex gained 367 points, closing at 66,528. The NSE Nifty50 reclaimed the 19,750-mark, ending at 19,754 levels, with an increase of 108 points.
