The co-founder and former managing director of BharatPe, Ashneer Grover, received a salary of ₹1.69 crore (approximately $230,000) in the financial year 2022, according to regulatory filings by the company cited by Moneycontrol.
Grover’s wife, Madhuri, also earned a salary of ₹63 lakh (approximately $87,000) during the same period. Other key senior personnel at the fintech company also received notable salaries, with board member and co-founder Shashvat Nakrani earning ₹29.8 lakh (approximately $41,000) and board member Kewal Handa earning ₹36 lakh (approximately $50,000).
The company’s former CEO and current strategic advisor, Suhail Sameer, earned a salary of ₹2.1 crore (approximately $290,000). The chairman of BharatPe, Rajnish Kumar, who is also a former chief of the State Bank of India, earned a salary of ₹21.4 lakh (approximately $30,000) in the financial year 2022.
It is important to note that these salary figures do not include share-based payments, which for BharatPe in FY 2022 amounted to ₹70 crore (approximately $9.7 million), an increase of 218% from the previous financial year.
It should also be noted that Ashneer Grover resigned from BharatPe in March of 2021, and in December of 2021, Rajnish Kumar joined BharatPe as its chairman. Ashneer Grover had described Rajnish Kumar as his “biggest hiring mistake” in December 2021. Rajnish Kumar refused to comment on the jibe and said he will never stoop to the former MD’s level.
