Surat Diamond Bourse Inaugurated By PM Modi: A Global Milestone

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB), a monumental project aimed at redefining the diamond trading landscape. The SDB, located in the heart of Surat, is strategically planned to relocate and expand the diamond trading business from Mumbai, traditionally known as the hub for cutting and polishing diamonds.
A Glimpse into the Surat Diamond Bourse

The SDB sprawls across an impressive 66 lakh square feet within the Diamond Research and Mercantile (DREAM) city. This colossal complex is poised to become the world’s largest office space within a single project, surpassing even the renowned Pentagon in terms of capacity. Housing a staggering 4,200 diamond trading offices, the SDB is poised to transform Surat into one of the globe’s premier trading hubs for diamonds and jewelry.
President’s Perspective
Nagjibhai Sakariya, the president of SDB, shared insights with The Indian Express, stating, “Currently, 135 offices are open, and we are hopeful that after the inauguration, others will also start opening their offices by mid-next year.” This ambitious venture signals a significant shift, with Surat poised to rival Mumbai as a key player in the diamond trading industry.
As Prime Minister Modi unveils this groundbreaking workspace, the Surat Diamond Bourse is set to not only elevate the city’s status but also reshape the dynamics of the global diamond trade.
