Myanmar Earthquake Equivalent to 334 Atomic Bombs: Over 1,600 Killed, India Launches ‘Operation Brahma’
The deadly Myanmar earthquake that struck on Friday has been described by experts as one of the most powerful in recent years, unleashing energy comparable to 334 atomic bombs. The 7.7-magnitude quake has claimed over 1,600 lives, and aftershocks are expected to persist for months, according to US-based geologist Jess Phoenix.
Phoenix, speaking to CNN, warned, “The force that a quake like this releases is about 334 atomic bombs,” highlighting the immense destructive capacity of the seismic event. The geologist added that the continued tectonic collision between the Indian plate and the Eurasian plate beneath Myanmar could result in long-term seismic instability.
