SRH vs DC: Toss Report – SRH to Bowl First in Hyderabad
In a high-stakes Match 55 of IPL 2025, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have won the toss and elected to bowl first against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
Captain Pat Cummins won the toss after Axar Patel called tails, only to see it land heads. The decision to chase aligns with recent pitch behavior in Hyderabad.
Pat Cummins: “We Need to Give Ourselves a Chance”
Speaking after the toss, SRH skipper Pat Cummins admitted his team hasn’t been able to put together a complete performance yet this season.
“We’ve talked about a few things. It’s about giving ourselves a chance as a batting unit when needed,” Cummins said.
He praised the crowd’s loyalty:
“The support from the fans has been amazing despite the results. Buzzing around in the field is something we can control — and we want to do that tonight.”
SRH have struggled in recent matches but are hoping to channel crowd energy and fielding intensity into a strong performance tonight.
Axar Patel: “The Environment’s Light, Momentum Matters”
Axar Patel, leading DC, said he also would have preferred to bowl first, but now hopes his team can post a big total batting first.
“We kept the environment light, not thinking about permutations or pressure. Everyone has contributed and we’ve avoided big losses, which keeps morale high,” Axar remarked.
He emphasized that team balance remains unchanged, sticking to the formula of three pacers and three spinners, which has worked for them.
Team Strategy Going In
- SRH Bowling First: With spin-friendly conditions later in the game, Cummins is banking on restricting DC under pressure.
- DC Batting First: KL Rahul, Faf du Plessis, and Karun Nair will be key to giving Delhi a strong foundation.
Both captains are clear: it’s now or never to build momentum before playoffs.
