The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that certain areas of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will experience high temperatures for the next three days, causing discomfort. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 39-41 °C, which is 2-3°C higher than the normal range in isolated pockets.
Hot and humid weather to persist in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry
According to Deputy Director General of Meteorology Senthamarai Kannan, the hot and humid weather conditions will continue in isolated areas of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry until June 4. He stated that the discomforting weather is likely to persist for the next three days (June 2 to June 4) due to the prevailing hot and humid conditions. The maximum temperature in these regions is expected to be around 39-41 °C, which is significantly higher than the normal range.
Chennai to experience partly cloudy skies and high temperatures
The capital city of Tamil Nadu, Chennai, is also expected to face humid weather conditions. The IMD predicts partly cloudy skies in Chennai, with the maximum temperature ranging from 40-41 °C and the minimum temperature around 30 °C.
Possibility of relief in some parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry
While many areas will experience hot and humid weather, there is a possibility of relief in certain parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The IMD indicates that light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, may occur at a few places in these regions, offering some respite from the scorching heat.
Tamil Nadu Weatherman advises caution
Tamil Nadu Weatherman, Pradeep John, an independent weather blogger, has advised people to avoid going outdoors for the next two hours, unless absolutely necessary, due to the extreme heat conditions. He further speculates whether the temperature in Meenambakkam, Chennai, will reach 43 °C and awaits the official readings from the IMD for confirmation.
