Ben Affleck Reveals Why He Stepped Away from The Batman and Superhero Genre Entirely
When Ben Affleck was cast as Batman in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), it marked a high-profile move for the franchise. However, despite appearing in major films like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, Affleck never got to star in a solo Batman film, and now, he’s officially done with the genre.
In a candid interview with GQ, the actor-director called his time as the Caped Crusader “excruciating”, citing creative misalignments and personal struggles as major factors.
“There are a number of reasons why that was a really excruciating experience,” Affleck said. “And they don’t all have to do with the simple dynamic of being in a superhero movie… I’ve lost interest in what was of interest about it to me.”
